Frequently Asked Questions7 Answers

How do I restore my TileNews Pro, Ultra, or Lifetime Unlock purchase?

Open TileNews → tap the AI Settings or Pro icon in the top bar → open the Upgrade sheet and tap 'Restore Purchases'. StoreKit 2 automatically verifies your Apple ID transaction history and restores your Lifetime Unlock ($19.99) or active subscription across all of your devices.

What is Smart View and how does multi-source consolidation work?

When breaking news happens, multiple RSS feeds often publish overlapping articles on the same story. Smart View (the sparkles icon in the top bar) clusters articles covering the same event into a single tile, ranks stories by relevance, and synthesizes one unified, deduplicated TL;DR summary with inline [Source] citations so you only read the story once.

How do I change the tile grid density (from 2×2 up to 8×8)?

Tap the grid density badge in the top bar (e.g., 2×, 5×, 6×, or 8×) to cycle column density, or open AI Settings to pick your preferred layout. On wide displays like iPhone Duo and iPad, TileNews defaults to a denser multi-column wall and pushes the grid left when you tap a tile to open the split reader.

How do I add feeds or browse the 100 Popular Feeds directory?

Tap Feeds in the top navigation bar, then tap '+' (Add Sources). You can search or filter 100 curated RSS feeds across 10 categories (Tech, World News, Science, Business, Finance, Sports, Gaming, Entertainment, Design, and Lifestyle), or paste any website or RSS/Atom URL directly.

Why are some tiles dimmed with a 'Sponsored' badge?

TileNews automatically detects sponsored posts, affiliate roundups, and promotional feed items and dims them in the grid so they never masquerade as editorial news. Every dimmed tile remains tappable if you still want to inspect it.

Does TileNews work on-device without an API key?

Yes. By default, TileNews runs summarization, Smart View consolidation, and smart background notifications locally on your device using Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels) and NaturalLanguage—with zero API keys or accounts required. You can also bring your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini key in AI Settings.

How do I replay the onboarding flow?

Open Feeds → scroll to the Onboarding section → tap 'Replay Onboarding Flow' to walk through the 100-feed starter picker and intro tour at any time.
