Effective October 27, 2026Local-First RSS & On-Device AI

Privacy Policy

Your feeds, reading habits, and on-device summaries stay on your device.

TileNews (bundle ID llc.contextlimit.tilenews) is built by ContextLimit LLC (“ContextLimit”, “we”) so that your subscribed RSS/Atom feeds, reading preferences, and default AI summaries stay on your device.

1. Local-first feed & reading storage

Your subscribed RSS/Atom feed list, grid density settings (2×2 through 8×8), Smart View preferences, and cached article summaries are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. ContextLimit does not require user accounts and does not track which feeds you subscribe to or which articles you read.

2. Direct RSS fetching & inline web view

When TileNews refreshes your feeds or opens an article in the inline reader, your device connects directly to the publisher’s RSS feed URL or web page. As with any web browser or RSS client, those publishers receive your device’s standard HTTP request (such as IP address and user-agent string) under their own privacy policies.

3. On-device Apple Intelligence & optional AI providers

  • Default On-Device Summarization & Consolidation: By default, TileNews uses Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels) and Apple’s on-device NaturalLanguage framework to summarize articles, consolidate duplicate stories in Smart View, detect sponsored posts, and evaluate smart background notifications locally on your device.
  • Optional Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) Providers: If you choose OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini in AI Settings and enter your own API key, your key is stored locally in the encrypted iOS Keychain (service llc.contextlimit.tilenews) and article text is sent directly from your device to the provider you selected under that provider’s privacy policy.
  • Optional Hosted Pro / Ultra Cloud AI: If you unlock TileNews Pro, Ultra, or Lifetime and explicitly select Hosted Cloud AI, article text for the summary you request is transmitted to our AI proxy solely to generate and return the summary and is not sold or used to build advertising profiles.

4. Purchases, subscriptions & lifetime unlock

TileNews Pro Monthly (llc.contextlimit.tilenews.pro.monthly), Pro Yearly (llc.contextlimit.tilenews.pro.yearly), Ultra Monthly (llc.contextlimit.tilenews.ultra.monthly), and Lifetime Unlock (llc.contextlimit.tilenews.lifetime) are processed directly by Apple via StoreKit 2 (or Google Play on Android). ContextLimit never receives your payment card details; the app verifies cryptographically signed store entitlements on your device to unlock features and restore purchases.

5. No third-party ad SDKs or cross-app tracking

TileNews contains no advertising SDKs, no data brokers, and no cross-app tracking. Local UserDefaults access (CA92.1) is used solely to store your app preferences and subscribed feeds on your device.
